Born and raised in Vermont, author Timothy F. McKay is the youngest of four sons of respected pediatrician Jim (R. James) McKay and Liz Foote McKay, the subjects of this book. He retired in 2010 from a career in natural resource conservation in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. He lives there on a tree farm of 145 acres which he has managed for nearly 40 years. His passion for local wood led him to become a fine furniture maker. Meanwhile, a passion for family history led Tim to become the family genealogist, historian, and poet. He finds historical research and writing challenging and inspiring. A leader in his community, Tim has been on various boards and currently serves as his town’s Moderator at town meeting. He has travelled extensively in Europe and the Americas. Tim writes a monthly column in the North Star Monthly.
